Holiday highlights

We are home, which is always nice but,we have had an amazing four weeks in south afica. What were the highlights?well, where to start!.............
I think pilanesburg was definately up there...especially the lovely airconditioned hotel room with the pool outside!but,Sun city was great, the kids loved the huge wavepool, and all the games inside the casino.Another trip was Kimberley,an interesting place, not just for it's diamond mining history, the city also has a big lake that is full of pink flamingos!.Capetown was awesome too.
We saw our youngest child baptised on the 7th december at ST lukes church in welkom, and we had a braai afterwards and a special cake and it was all really nice.We had afew braai's(BBQ's)actually.Christmas eve was spent outside(another braai!),grandpa went and pointed out santa claus's sleigh+reindeer in the night sky later on and then it was time to put out a glass of milk+a snack for santa before bed! christmas day began early(I think the grandparents were more excited than the kids because they were up the earliest!),it was both billy and Katies' first christmas, billy also had his first taste of real food too(Pears,he had a funny discusted look but we think he liked it?).I've never seen so many presents!! We saw Great-granny doyle celebrate her 90th!.We spotted giraffe, rhino, springbok and antelope while driving along the highway in the freestate!.It was very hot in welkom so the kids spent alot of time in their grandparents pool, and billy had his first swim too.
I will just have to let our pitchures do the explaining as i am far too tired and this post is far too long anyway!
Happy NewYear to you all.

SouthAfrica 2008

Howzit from SouthAfrica!!We are having a fantastic time in CapeTown with Heather, craig and little Katie.Yesterday we checked out the waterfront/capetown harbour....it's a different experience travelling with young children as they get tired with a lot of walking and shopping, luckily I have been to capetown before and so,skipping some things didn't worry me.Table Mountain really is amazing just to look at as it just so vertical!!,it really dominates everything and is just so breathtaking!.We did go to the aquarium which was lovely, the giant spider crabs just freaked me out!!Eeek!.Jasper found a cool playground after and so we had a leisurely lunch looking out on the beautiful harbour.
We took a boat cruise on this old steam boat which had a very funny tour guide, being slow it put ruby to sleep(the motion of the water).
We walked around Stellenbosch on tuesday, which was gorgeous! And we went abit mad buying at the markets there.

It is awesome being in SA again, especially wonderful showing it all to our children(they have already tryed biltong, and love it).It is a very busy nation, just hustle, bustle whereever you go,but that is the fun part of Southafrica, well, that and the general mayhem that you never know what to expect...woman picking bananas up off the highway, crazy drivers, industrious people using dustpans to sweep the highways!(no machines here)Jasper calling craig uncle "Crab",and so on...

Well,we are off to the FreeState tommorow, back to where davie grew up,Welkom, and to a HUGE Doyle reunion...I'll write from there.
Photos to come

We gave the kids their main presents too,a wooden dollshouse and a marbleracer toy. So,needless to say,the kids have NOT been bored this weekend, makes a change!.
